Take Things For Granted

After reading the above conversation between my dear and I, what do you think? You have an answer in your mind already? No? Come on, get one!

My thought is:
Most of us didn't realise that we used to take things for granted! Agree? Like my dear, he pretends there's nothing happened even though he realized I did something for him. I know he is happy on that but still, he resist to say " thank you, my dear!". I purposely reminded him, and lead him to say something. That's why the above conversation came in.

Why do we feel so difficult to convey our thankful to our loved ones? Are they supposed to help us to get things done? Why are we pretending nothing happened, even though deep inside our hearts, we are so grateful?

Tagged!

I was tagged by Lil' Ms Pinky on my skin care and cosmetics products. Frankly speaking, I don't make-up a lot. I just put up a very basic foundation and lip stick.

My foundation: Previously I used L'oreal's liquid foundation. But after my mom recommend to me the Shiseido stick foundation, I swear I don't want to use liquid foundation anymore. This sun protection stick foundation SPF 35 PA++ is so amazing! It is a treatment-enriched stick foundation that defends against powerful UVA/UVB rays. It provides a sheer, natural finish. Glides on effortlessly to give skin a smooth, radiant look. :P

My lipstick: I have a whole series of Maybelline lipsticks. My favourite colors are pure plum, buff, chestnut and cranberry pink.

My blush: It's included in my Lancome set, which normally I don't use.

My essential beauty product: Ginverra Nutri White Marvel Gel & Simple's Deep Cleansing Mask.

My favorite make-up product: Lancome's all in one make up set.

My perfume: I don't use perfume.

My nails: I don't apply anything on my finger nails. I use Wet "n" Wild on my toe nails occasionally.

Three products to bring on a deserted island: Sunblock, Vaseline Intensive Care lotion and oil removal tissues.

My legs & my hands: Vaseline Intensive Care lotion - Aloe Cool & Fresh and Total Moisture

Women I admire for their beauty: A lots

Women with the best sense of style: Be average

My ultimate dream: To have an angel face and super sexy figure. :D

My favorite fashion publication: Hmm...not so specific

How much water do you need a day?

Water is an important structural component of skin cartilage, tissues and organs. For human beings, every part of the body is dependent on water. Our body comprises about 75% water: the brain has 85%, blood is 90%, muscles are 75%, kidney is 82% and bones are 22% water. The functions of our glands and organs will eventually deteriorate if they are not nourished with good, clean water.

The average adult loses about 2.5 litres water daily through perspiration, breathing and elimination. Symptoms of the body's deterioration begins to appear when the body loses 5% of its total water volume. In a healthy adult, this is seen as fatigue and general discomfort, whereas for an infant, it can be dehydrating. In an elderly person, a 5% water loss causes the body chemistry to become abnormal, especially if the percentage of electrolytes is overbalanced with sodium. One can usually see symptoms of aging, such as wrinkles, lethargy and even disorientation. Continuous water loss over time will speed up aging as well as increase risks of diseases.

If your body is not sufficiently hydrated, the cells will draw water from your bloodstream, which will make your heart work harder. At the same time, the kidneys cannot purify blood effectively. When this happens, some of the kidney's workload is passed on to the liver and other organs, which may cause them to be severely stressed. Additionally, you may develop a number of minor health conditions such as constipation, dry and itchy skin, acne, nosebleeds, urinary tract infection, coughs, sneezing, sinus pressure, and headaches.

So, how much water is enough for you? The minimum amount of water you need depends on your body weight. A more accurate calculation, is to drink an ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight.

Here is the calculation for your minimum water need per day:

=[(Your weight in kg*2.2)/2/15]*450

So, if your weight is 50kg, then you require 1,650 ml of water per day.

Longed for a puppy~

My dear and I recently had a thought of getting a puppy for companionship and some fun...but we were a bit worried about the doggy smell and the shedding.

We would like to have a pup staying indoors, so we are looking into toy dog category. We searched through the web and short list a few breeds that we think is suitable...

First is the Australian Silky Terrier...Friendly, happy, alert, great family pet. Always happy to be with their family, and travels well. Very intelligent, will keep an eye open for trouble, but will not become aggressive and noisy.

Second is toy poodle...Toy Poodles are entertaining little animals. They will play ball and love to fetch. Play time is very important, but you must be sure that they get plenty of rest following long play periods and fresh water available at all times. Poodle is one of the easiest to train, and they learn very quickly where to relieve themselves.

Chihuahua...the only short hair dog of the bunch here, however, they do not fear anything, and tends to a bit noisy. They think they are the master of the universe!

And finally Maltese...another fearless pup. Many Maltese seem relatively indifferent to creatures/objects larger than themselves, which makes them very easy to socialize with other dogs, and even cats. That's the last thing we want to have in our house....dog playing with cats! *fainted

So what do you think is the best pup? Any other recommendations?

Crouching kitten, Hidden sparrow

Previously I blogged about the naughty cats roaming around our neighbourhood, and yesterday my dear and I found another victim that is unfortunate enough to fall into the paws of the vicious cats. There, standing on our dustbin, is a tortured sparrow, couldn't move a bit even when we touch it. You can observe the tail feathers has been ripped by some naughty cats, probably for entertainment rather than a meal.

We tried to save it but eventually the sparrow just jump out the window and flew away, or trying to. We are not sure whether it can survive for long.

As for the kitten, we found that it is always polishing its hunting skills...maybe we'll see some other unfortunate creature fall prey to this stealthy hunter...tsk tsk tsk.

Stray Cats Go Wild

Miao~~miao~~, these are the sounds of the beasts terorrizing our neighborhood recently. They come in a variety of colors......white, black, grey, orange, and a mixture of all the colors. Worst of all, they seemed to like our house so much it has become their resting, hunting and feeding place! And we didn't invite them! Even when we shoo them they just staring straight at us, thinking that we are some funny joker who doesn't have anything better to do.

Once while I was sleeping at night I suddenly caught sight of a cat sneaking into our bedroom while another cat keep watch at the window! Too much liao! They are like mission impossible spy cats trying to infiltrate our house, maybe trying to steal something to eat. Once there is an incident of missing fragrant meat on our dining table, thanks to the stealthy white cat.

Then, there is another black+white cat love terrorize the back of our house. Every time when we go to the kithen and turn on tap water, we can catch a glimpse of the cat quietly move away from our house. Arrrgghhhh...they are just too many of them and we seriously need to call pest control.

Naughty orange stripe kitten, very playful, running around, dodging here and there...

Pure orange fat cat lazing around...

Grey stripe sleepy cat on our car!

Carcass of a pigeon can be found on our porch!

Yuck! intestines of the pigeon being left there for us to clean up, we almost throw up at the sight of it.

We are planning to buy a water cannon to blast of these vermins back to their filthy holes...and you bet we will!

Weekly Marketing

My dear and I will go to market once a week to buy all the ingredients for our home cooked meals. The ingredients will cover for our Sunday's lunch and dinner + 5 weekdays dinner. Kadus_Mama mentioned that she bought 3 carrots + 4 tomatoes + small lotus root at RM10. Wow, that's expensive lar. So, I have decided to make my calculation on how much I spend for my weekly marketing.

Here's what we bought today:

1. A bunch of Choy Sum flower + a bunch of spinach + 1 carrot + a bunch of veggie as per the above photo + a bunch of French beans + a bunch of mint leaves + 1 bunga kantan & some herbs + a small lotus root + a small bunch of lemon grass = RM11.

2. Half of chicken cost at RM5.

3. 4 fish fillet (RM12) + 4 medium size kembung fish (RM2) + 1kg of white prawns (RM15) = RM29

4. 2 hard bean curds+ 5 big fish balls + a packet of laksa noodles = RM5.20

5. Chicken soup herbs = RM4

6. 3 Pears+ 5 oranges = RM10

So, end up the grand total as RM64.20. I'm satisfied to get all the above with that amount of money. Not to forget, from the raw food, we earn a week's healthy home cooked dishes ler... What do you think? Cheap or expensive?

I'm Drowsy, Tiresome

I went to bed at 8.30pm last night, and waked up at 5.50am this morning. I took a really long night sleep. More than 9 hours. Wow! :) Envy?? I don't know why, just felt so tired while I was reading "How To Overcome Time Poverty". Don't misunderstand, it's not because of the book is not interesting, okay? My eyelids became extraordinary heavy until I didn't manage to hold it anymore. So, right away just fell asleep. I can't even remember whether I did have any sweet dreams last night.

Recently at work, I will feel drowsy starting from 3pm onwards. Got to know that possible root cause of drowsiness may due to depression, anxiety, boredom or stress. However, I'm sure I don't have all the above. For my case, I guess it's due to bad ventilation in the office. The centralized air cond is not functioning well, and the room temperature becomes so warm in the afternoon. KNS, facility has yet to take any action!

So, let's see what do I have for myself. You got it? Yes, I have a USB fan, haha, clever ler... :P

Are You Good With Money?

Just sitting down and taking some tests again. Just wanna relax my mind after working for whole day long. Hubby falls sick. Running nose again. He's now sleeping soundly. Ok, fine. Just leave me peace of mind, hehe :P

I found the following test is quite interesting, so just gave it a try, and the result is - tada... I'm great with money wor... Let's see ya.

You Are Great With Money

You know the value of a dollar - and you save and spend wisely.

My comment: Yea, I've been practising spend wisely since I was a child. Besides, I do have my monthly saving. :)

By living below your means, you've set yourself up for a rich future.

My comment: Just wait and see. Hopefully, I'll have a better life, richer, wealthier :P So that I can share my money with my loved ones. More meaningful, isn't it?

And while it may hurt to sacrifice now, you'll probably have plenty of money later on.

My comment: Hmm...Not really hurt actually. I'm not stingy to myself. I've got whatever I want at least up to this moment. Honestly said, all expenses are paid and sponsored by hubby, and majority of my earning is for saving. :)

You're on your way to riches - just keep it up.

My comment: Huray!! 加油!

A Successful Child Adoption

Anis, an adorable girl who is adopted by my Muslim assistant and her husband. I blog about her in my old blog when she was 2 months old. Unfortunately, her photos were missing when my old blog was transfered from other blog hoster. Nevermind, I got her latest photos here. She is now 1 and a half years old.

Anis is cute and charming little girl. Her mom brought her to visit me the other day. She played with me and let me holding her without resistance. I'm happy seeing her finding a home, and I'm glad to know that my assistant and her husband treat her like their own child. They are a happy family. This is a real successful child adoption story.

An Impressive Dish Drops

About a month ago, I started using Amway's dish washing liquid. Although it's a bit pricey, cost at about RM30 for 1 liter, however, let me tell you, it's worth that price. I'm so impressed with it! Don't misunderstand that I'm here to promote Amway's product. I'm not. In fact, I have yet to become their member. I'm just one of their customer. This is just a review of the product. My personal opinion about the product.

Amway's dish drops is a highly concentrated antibacterial dish wash for unsurpassed grease-cutting ability. Its antibacterial formula helps to remove germs from dishes and sponges, leaving them in a sanitary condition. Its ingredients are scientifically proven effective in control kitchen drain and garbage disposal odors. On top of that, the amazing value is it contains triple-patented formula which combines AHA (alpha hydroxyl acids) and moisturizers for unbeatable cleaning and unmatched gentleness. It's effective for maintaining healthy looking hands compared to applying AHA or moisturizer product alone. So far, I have not come across to any dish wash that is so gentle to my hands. Definitely not from other cheap and harsh dish wash in the market. The following chart is showing to us how effective AHA, moisturizer and AHA plus moisturizer for maintaining healthy looking hands.

Apart from that, the most impressed new claim is - Amway's dish drops has been tested and approved to be used to wash and soak vegetables and fruits. Oh, yes! This will prevent eating herbicide and pesticide into our stomach. :) What I need to do is to soak the fresh veggie in filtered water with just a little bit of diluted dish drops for a bout 2 to 3 minutes and rinse well. I used to prepare the diluted liquid with dilution bottle into 8:1 ratio.

With my estimation, 1 litter of dish wash is able to last for about 1 year based on my current usage. So, Rm30 devided by 12, it just costs me around RM2.50 per month. Quite reasonable, isn't it?

A Little "Meat Dumpling"

Today my colleagues and I ( 5 of us) got a meat dumpling each which was distributed by our HR Director, who is a Muslim guy. The HR Director distribute "bak chang" to us, ya....Oh, it's the vegetarian meat dumplings, ok? :P . By the way, I'm not from HR department. So surprise why he distribute the "bak chang" to us, but not to his subordinates. *Scratching head*

This is my early "meat dumpling" before the Dumpling Festival this coming Sunday. I brought the little dumpling back to share with hubby. I ate the ingredients, and he finished up the sticky glutinous rice, haha...so naughty hor. I restrict myself from taking any food contained glutinous rice.

I didn't take any photo on the dumpling cuz it doesn't look tempting at all. Let's see what ingredients hiding inside the little vegetarian dumpling. It has wheat gluten as the "fake" pork, a chestnut, some mushrooms and some beans. Not bad. A healthy version of meat dumpling. Thanks to En. Azlan for sharing this with us.

Lotion of My Love

When I was in Form 5 of my secondary education, my team and I (5 of us) participated in a Science contest which was organised by our school. The contest was divided into 3 categories, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. We chose to take part in Bio category. After a long discussion on what topic should we focus on, then our creative leader popped up an idea and suggested to research if body lotion have efficacy on anti-bacteria besides acting as moisturizer. You know lah, almost all young chicks love skin care products mah, so there was no objection from 4 of us. All of us were very excited with the topic, and were eagerly to know the outcome.

Then, a series of experiment from 5 lil' scientists began. We did several experiments by using roughly 8 types of body lotions. We used ethanol to sterilize our skin before applying each type of lotion and collected sample to grow. Each sample was monitored by daily basis versus the control sample (without lotion applied). We monitored the growth of bacterias on each samples for 1 week. So, based on the results, we concluded that our hypothesis was right. Lotion has the anti-bacteria effect. And the most happy moment was we won the first prize and got a chance to represent the school to participate in the Science exhibition, which was organized by Penang state government. It was a fruitful experience. We learned to present our research in front of public, and interviewed by reporters. So proud hor? :)

After so many years, I have forgotten which brand of body lotion has the best effect of anti-bacteria. Now, I just base on my personal taste to select any type which suits my liking. Currently I'm using the range from The Vaseline Intensive Care - Aloe Cool & Fresh and Total Moisture. This light-weight moisturizer that's quickly absorbed to provide refreshing moisture without feeling sticky. I prefer these 2 scent rather than the intensive white care, cuz 2 of them are with natural good smelling. It promotes comfort, freshness and radiance to my skin. Hmm...I really like the smell :) It's so so so natural especially the Aloe Vera smell. It suits my requirement as I don't like strong perfume smell.

I'm A Great Listener

New kid on the blog put up the link to the quiz, and I personally tried it out. As per what I expected, the result is......I'm great listener!

Based my analysis on my own characteristic, I know I'm a quiet, not talkative person. However, I don't easily trust everbody's words. I utilize my ability to analyse things in logical way. I used to listen to people, understand their thoughts before I convey my opinion or suggestion. When problem exist, I'll listen to all parties explanation before I determine the root cause, and suggest any solutions. And the most important thing, I don't disseminate people's secret or talk about personal and private affairs. I'm not a gossiper. *Wink-wink*

You Are a Great Listener

You are the perfect person to talk to.

You are patient, empathetic, and encouraging.

You provide subtle, but important, feedback.

You let people say everything that needs to be said before you weigh in.
